Matthew Bunasky looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Asher Evans, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Caden Wayman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Oakland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Stewarts Creek unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Blackman by a score of 5-4.
Tyler Huskey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Oakland's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-11-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Stewarts Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Oakland has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Stewarts Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
