Jal was the 58-53 winner over Pecos when they last played one another back in December of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Panthers fell 46-38 to the Eagles on Saturday. On the bright side, the 38- point effort marked the Panthers' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Pecos can attribute much of their success to Mateo Fernandez, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. Jayce Roman also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Jal is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4. As for Pecos, their victory bumped their record up to 3-10.

Jal will take on Compass Academy in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Cougars have now posted at least 55 points in their last five contests. Pecos and Ozona will compete for holiday cheer at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
