East St. Louis won the last time they faced Belleville West and things went their way on Friday too. The East St. Louis Flyers breezed by the Belleville West Maroons to the tune of 63-34. The Flyers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 20 points or more this season.

Alex Johnson was nothing short of spectacular: he went 9 of 14 on his way to 19 points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Montreal Stacker, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 assists.

East St. Louis was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

East St. Louis' victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-6. As for Belleville West, they moved to 6-2 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

East St. Louis didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-58 defeat against Father Tolton on the 21st. As for Belleville West, they will take on Cardinal Ritter College Prep in a tournament on Thursday.
