Basketball Game Preview: Riverside Generals vs. Raines Vikings

The Riverside Generals just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Raines Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 75-15, which was the final score in Riverside's tilt against Impact Christian Academy on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Generals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while the Lions are ranked 58th).

Meanwhile, Raines entered their tilt with Wolfson on Wednesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They managed a 52-47 victory over the Wolfpack.

Raines' win came from a few key players Riverside will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Curtis Asberry, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 13 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrance Walker, who posted nine points along with six assists and six boards.

Raines was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Raines has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Riverside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.

Riverside strolled past Raines when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 68-51. Does Riverside have another victory up their sleeve, or will Raines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
