Volleyball Game Preview: BASIS Phoenix Firebirds vs. Madison Highland Prep Heat

The BASIS Phoenix Firebirds are taking a road trip to square off against the Madison Highland Prep Heat at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Madison Highland Prep took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on BASIS Phoenix, who comes in off a win.

BASIS Phoenix took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Scottsdale Christian Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Firebirds had just enough and edged out the Eagles 3-2 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Firebirds have posted since March 27th.

BASIS Phoenix got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 31-29, 21-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-11.

Meanwhile, Madison Highland Prep came up short against Parker on Monday, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Heat in their meetings with the Broncs: they've now lost three in a row.

Madison Highland Prep took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-14, 29-27.

BASIS Phoenix's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-5. As for Madison Highland Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Everything went BASIS Phoenix's way against Madison Highland Prep when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as BASIS Phoenix made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Firebirds since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
