Soccer Game Preview: Geneva vs. Wheaton-Warrenville South

The Geneva Vikings will square off against the Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Geneva is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

If Wheaton-Warrenville South heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Geneva took over last week. The Vikings blew past Wheaton North 4-1 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for Geneva, who have now won nine contests by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Wheaton North with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Caleb Kelly (2), Nate Fridman, and Chase Marquardt.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Wheaton-Warrenville South's offense. They came up short against Lake Park on Tuesday, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, Wheaton-Warrenville South can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Lake Park are ranked 27th).

Wheaton-Warrenville South's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1-2 and their overall record down to 6-8-2. As for Geneva, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4-2.
