Softball Game Preview: Skyline Grizzlies vs. Shelley Russets

For the second straight game, Skyline will face off against Shelley. The Grizzlies will head out to take on the Russets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Skyline is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Shelley hit Skyline with a four-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Grizzlies took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Russets.

Maggie Young spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 16 Ks.

On the hitting side, Bella Jensen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Mikayela Lopez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.

Shelley's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Skyline, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9-1.
