Softball Recap: Garrett Triumphs

Garrett hadn't done well against Fairfield recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Railroaders came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 5-2. While the Railroaders didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Ashlee Vanderbosch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aliviah Mowery, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jayiden Feicht, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Garrett's record now sits at 8-2. As for Fairfield, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-4.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Garrett will square off against rival Hamilton at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Fairfield is set to face off against their familiar foe Lakeland at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
