Softball Recap: Texas City Gets the Win

Texas City won the last time they faced Ball and things went their way on Monday too. Texas City skirted past Ball 4-2. That's two games straight that the Stingarees have won by exactly two runs.

Harley Garza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Trinitey Spencer, who went 2-for-3 with two triples and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Alyssa Acosta also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Texas City and bumps their season record up to 12-7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Ball, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-16.

Coming up, Texas City will square off against La Porte at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Porte's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Texas City's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Ball, they will face off against Iowa Colony at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ball is facing Iowa Colony at the right time seeing as Iowa Colony is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
