Heritage recap Sept. 26, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Northern Cambria, who took down 327th ranked Blairsville, 29-26.
Penns Manor's Danny Ferens recorded the longest rushing play in Heritage this season in his game against United last week. Ferens' team bested the Lions as he sprinted for 70 yards on the play and finished with 262 in all.
The Bobcats' dynamic duo of Scott Thompson and Cameron Livingston proved tough for the Colts to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Thompson threw for 212 yards and Livingston had 87 yards receiving. Colton McMillen helped Blairsville's passing attack out by catching three balls for 63 yards.
Blairsville's Thompson and Bobby Thompson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Thompson has thrown for 748 yards this season, while Thompson, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 11 catches for 250 yards. Ferens from Penns Manor leads the league in rushing with 712 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Albert Dettorre's team takes on Homer-Center. The Bobcats are currently in fifth, while the Wildcats are in second.
Homer-Center moved up to 264 from 378 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Heritage. A 33-6 win over Purchase Line helped Greg Page's team improve its standing.
