Soccer Game Preview: Roma vs. Nixon

Roma is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Nixon Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Roma has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with five straight defeats, while Nixon will come in with four straight victories.

Roma saw some tournament action on Friday. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was Stevens who was credited with the win. The Falcons got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Roma's one.

Nixon's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They skirted past Mission 1-0. Given Nixon's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Mission are ranked 334th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nixon's one-goal win came courtesy of Alexander Cepeda, who's now up to three this season.

Roma's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Nixon, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
