Basketball Game Preview: East Butler Tigers vs. Cross County Cougars

East Butler is 0-10 against Cross County since February of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Tigers take on the Cougars at 6:00 p.m.

East Butler is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 57-39 to High Plains.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Lillie Kriz, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last four games she's played. Morgan Havlovic was another key player, putting up eight points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, East Butler smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Cross County waltzed into their game on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past the Storm 46-23. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Storm are ranked 156th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cross County's win bumped their record up to 19-2. As for East Butler, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.

East Butler was dealt a bruising 62-30 defeat at the hands of Cross County in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can East Butler avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
