Recap: Westover Patriots vs. Tift County Blue Devils

The Westover Patriots had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 56-50 W over Tift County on Tuesday. The win was just what Westover needed coming off of a 58-38 loss in their prior contest.

Traveion Wheeler was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Greg Williams, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.

Tift County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaden Lawson, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds, and Malachi Evans who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lawson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of JJ Lamar, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.

Westover's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Tift County, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westover will be home for the holidays to greet Valdosta at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Valdosta presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Westover in Georgia (Valdosta is ranked 25th, while Westover is ranked 213th). Tift County will be home for the holidays to greet Sumter County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sumter County and Tift County are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
