Preview: Desert Hills Thunder vs. Dixie Flyers

Desert Hills is 8-2 against Dixie since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Desert Hills Thunder will head out on the road to challenge the Dixie Flyers at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Desert Hills is ranked 56th, while Dixie is ranked 46th).

Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Desert Hills had to settle for a 49-47 loss against Crimson Cliffs.

Meanwhile, Dixie pushed their score all the way to 57 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-57 to Snow Canyon. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Dixie in their matchups with Snow Canyon: they've now lost six in a row.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kealah Faumuina, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaycee Bundy, who scored 15 points.

Dixie struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Snow Canyon pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.

Desert Hills' loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Dixie, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Desert Hills skirted past Dixie 44-42 when the teams last played back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Faumuina, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Desert Hills still be able to contain Faumuina? There's only one way to find out.
