Montezuma-Cortez had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Elizabeth Cardinals by a score of 11-6 on Saturday. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won 13 matches in a row.

Seth Oakes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Oakes was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Darren Daves was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 11 games. Michael Krupa was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Montezuma-Cortez kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 12 consecutive contests.

Montezuma-Cortez's record now sits at 21-4. As for Elizabeth, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-6.

Looking ahead, Montezuma-Cortez will venture away from home to face off against Resurrection Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Elizabeth does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
