Baseball Recap: Northside Christian Wins Going Away Against St. Petersburg Catholic

Northside Christian had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt St. Petersburg Catholic on Tuesday. The Northside Christian Mustangs put the hurt on the St. Petersburg Catholic Barons with a sharp 8-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Barons: they've now won six in a row.

Donovan Fox tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Northside Christian is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 2-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Luke Anderson was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Bobby Hearn was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Northside Christian pushed their record up to 5-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Petersburg Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Coming up, Northside Christian will square off against IMG Academy Black at 7:00 p.m. on March 11th. As for St. Petersburg Catholic, they will challenge Osceola at 7:00 p.m. on March 11th.
