Softball Recap: Cholla Comes Up Short

Cholla was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 18-3 to the Mesquite Wildcats. One positive for the Chargers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Maiya Encinas was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.

Cholla's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Mesquite, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cholla will head out to challenge Flowing Wells at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mesquite, they will take on Thunderbird at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Thunderbird's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Mesquite's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
