Football Recap: John Carroll Extends Winning Streak to Four

John Carroll had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They put the hurt on the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cougars with a sharp 28-7 victory. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won four games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Carson Shoffner produced another solid performance rushing for 170 yards and three scores, while also picking up 37 receiving yards. Those 170 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to John Carroll's defense and their 3.5 sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Joe Choe, Parker Miller, and James Westervelt, who each picked up one sack apiece. Choe was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making ten total tackles.

John Carroll's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Our Lady of Mount Carmel, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.
