Basketball Recap: Winfield Comes Up Short

If Winfield was feeling good fresh off their 65-35 takedown of Sulligent on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates took a hard 59-45 fall against the Haleyville Lions on Friday. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Winfield now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Haleyville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.

Coincidentally, Winfield and Haleyville will both be playing Marion County the next time they take the court. The Lions will head out to face the Red Raiders at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Pirates will host them at 7:00 p.m. on December 2.
