Basketball Recap: Kirk Duhaney's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Elite Prep Academy over Forest Lake Academy

Elite Prep Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Forest Lake Academy Panthers. The Eagles were probably out for revenge after losing 63-47 to them when the teams met back in November of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Elite Prep Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kirk Duhaney, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Duhaney is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Torres, who posted 13 points and six boards.

Forest Lake Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Blake Bergherm out in front who went 5 of 6 en route to 10 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Those ten points gave Bergherm a new career-high. Isaiah Paradise was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Elite Prep Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Forest Lake Academy, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-13.

Elite Prep Academy has already played their next matchup (against Melbourne Central Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Forest Lake Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
