Football Game Preview: Taylor Titans vs. Carroll Cougars

Taylor is 0-9 against Carroll since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Titans will face off against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Taylor is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North White 85-6. That looming 85-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Titans yet this season.

Taylor's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Javionne Harris led the charge by rushing for 177 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries, while also picking up 60 receiving yards and one touchdown. What's more, Harris racked up 149.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August. Another player making a difference was Xavyn Pugh, who threw for 123 yards and four TDs on only ten passes.

Meanwhile, Carroll was able to grind out a solid win over Winamac on Friday, taking the game 27-14.

Carroll has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.5 points on average over those games. As for Taylor, their record now sits at 7-3.

Taylor was dealt a bruising 48-21 defeat at the hands of Carroll when the teams last played back in September. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
