Baseball Recap: Peru Tigers vs. Maconaquah Braves
Peru had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 10-8 to make it four. They fell just short of the Maconaquah Braves by a score of 4-3. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Braves since on Wednesday.
Reis Bellar made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
As for Maconaquah, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.
On Maconaquah's side, Deven Mitchell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Maconaquah saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Mercer, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Caiden Richards was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
