            Rye had lost five straight on the road, but  on Friday they dropped their record down to 5-16 to make it six. They fell just short of the Swink Lions by a score of  5-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Thunderbolts of the  4-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in May of 2024.

  Pierce Burris was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 1-for-3 with two  runs and one  double. Rye is 4-1 when  Burris posts two or  more  runs, but 1-15 otherwise.  Axton Erlich also deserves some recognition as  he  hit his first  double of the season.
As for Swink, they moved to 11-9 with that  victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  win they have posted  against Rye since May 13, 2022.
On Swink's side,  Nick Paolucci made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run over seven innings pitched. Paolucci was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 3-for-4 with seven  stolen bases and two  runs. That's the most  stolen bases  he has posted since back in March of 2024.
 Paolucci wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Nate Cabrera, who  went 2-for-4 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  double. Another  was  Landon Mills, who  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with one  stolen base.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Swink beat Rye by a score of  5-4 later that day.
