Recap: Osmond/Randolph Hawks vs. Niobrara/Verdigre Cougars
After flying high against the Winside Wildcats on Friday, the Osmond/Randolph Hawks came back down to earth. Osmond/Randolph was outmatched by Niobrara/Verdigre on the road and fell 51-22. Osmond/Randolph was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-4.
They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Anabelle Vinson and
Sophie Gansebom, who each put up five points.
Carriana Kumm held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.
Josilyn Miller was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 11 steals for Niobrara/Verdigre. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Miller has scored at least 25% of Niobrara/Verdigre's points. Another player making a difference was Eve Kucera, who scored three points along with six steals.
Osmond/Randolph's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Niobrara/Verdigre, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Osmond/Randolph will take on Cedar Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cedar Catholic is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. Niobrara/Verdigre and Neligh-Oakdale will face off at 6:15 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Neligh-Oakdale is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
