Basketball Recap: Garner Trojans vs. Heritage Huskies
Garner had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-3 to make it eight. They took a blow against the Heritage Huskies, falling 78-41. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2021.

Garner lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Aniyah Williams, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 20 points and five boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 14 games she's played dating back to last season. Kaitlyn Dean also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
As for Heritage, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 37 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Heritage to victory, but perhaps none more so than ABRIELLE LOVE, who went 7-for-12 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds. Those 17 points gave LOVE a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of GABRIELLE LOVE, who shot 56% from the field on her way to 11 points in addition to five boards and four steals.
Coming up, Garner will welcome Willow Spring at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Heritage, they will venture away from home to take on Rolesville at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
