Football Game Preview: Brownstown Central Braves vs. Tell City Marksmen

The Brownstown Central Braves will head out on the road to take on the Tell City Marksmen at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Brownstown Central's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Brownstown Central's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave on Friday, when they got past Scottsburg's usually-dominant defense. The Braves were the clear victors by a 34-14 margin over the Warriors. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Brownstown Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Micah J Sheffer, who threw for 105 yards and three touchdowns. Those three passing touchdowns gave J Sheffer a new career-high. Brownstown Central also got a significant boost from Preston Garrison, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 116 yards.

Brownstown Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 232 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 232 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.

Another reason for the win was Brownstown Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Scottsburg's QB won't forget Joe Roberts anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Roberts has been hot recently, having posted at least one sack the last three times he's played.

Tell City hadn't beaten South Spencer on the road since September 6, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Marksmen blew past the Rebels 42-18. The Marksmen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 21 points or more this season.

Brownstown Central's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Tell City, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Everything came up roses for Brownstown Central against Tell City in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 49-3 victory. In that contest, the Braves amassed a halftime lead of 28-3, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
