Baseball Recap: Jackson Oliver and Easton Oliver Secure Win for Living Word Lutheran

Living Word Lutheran was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against St. John's Northwestern Military Academy on Tuesday. The Timberwolves never let the Lancers get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Timberwolves in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won four in a row.

Gavin Weissenburger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. Living Word Lutheran is 2-1 when Weissenburger posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Easton Oliver and Jackson Oliver did most of the damage at the plate: Easton scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4, while Jackson scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Jackson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin LaPerriere, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Living Word Lutheran's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for St. John's Northwestern Military Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Living Word Lutheran will host St. Francis at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. John's Northwestern Military Academy, they will take on Brookfield Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
