Volleyball Recap: Izzy Harrelson Key Part of Team Effort in Fire Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Challenger, Christian Family Academy was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy Crusaders 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Fire as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.

Christian Family Academy took Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-9, 24-26, 23-25, 15-10.

Christian Family Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Izzy Harrelson out in front who had 12 aces and five kills. Those 12 aces gave Harrelson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aubri Smith, who had eight aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Christian Family Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 31 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Christian Family Academy's record now sits at 5-8. As for Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

As of now, neither Christian Family Academy nor the Crusaders have any future games scheduled.
