Basketball Recap: Gilbert Classical Academy Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

There's no place like home for Gilbert Classical Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the San Carlos Braves 57-54. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 65-63 two weeks ago.

Several Braves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Leandro Simbolo, who posted 12 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. That's the most boards Simbolo has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Orlando Boni, who scored nine points and six rebounds.

Gilbert Classical Academy pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for San Carlos, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-7.

Gilbert Classical Academy will welcome Pima at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for San Carlos, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Horizon Honors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Carlos is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.1 points per game this season.
