Volleyball Recap: Choctawhatchee Falls to Pensacola Catholic in First Game of Season

Choctawhatchee had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Pensacola Catholic Crusaders by a score of 3-2. The Indians have struggled against the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Choctawhatchee sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-16, 23-25, 25-15, 23-25, 15-7.

Their offense was headlined by Chloe Gunter and Janiya Brown, who picked up 11 kills apiece. Gunter also shared the team's lead in assists with Avery Thigpen: they picked up 18 each. Airabella Delay controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Madison Walker was a one-woman wrecking crew For Pensacola Catholic. as she had eight digs and five aces. Those five aces gave Walker a new career-high.

Pensacola Catholic has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Choctawhatchee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Crestview on the 21st. As for Pensacola Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Walton on the 21st.
