Softball Recap: Lytle Comes Up Short

Lytle managed to slip by Natalia the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Lytle Pirates lost 11-5 to the Natalia Mustangs on Tuesday. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Giselle Esparza was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was ADDISON CRIADO, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Lytle's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7-1. As for Natalia, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lytle will host Cotulla at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lytle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season. As for Natalia, they will be playing at home against Crystal City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Natalia is facing Crystal City at the right time seeing as Crystal City is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
