Basketball Recap: Melissa Takes a Loss

Melissa was the 64-43 winner over McKinney North when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Cardinals fell 65-54 to the Bulldogs on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Cardinals have lost by exactly 11 points.

McKinney North's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Preston Spolar, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most boards Spolar has posted since back in December of 2025. Aiden Spurrier was another key player, putting up 16 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Melissa and nudges their season record down to 10-15. As for McKinney North, their victory bumped their record up to 12-16.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Melissa is set to face off against their familiar foe Walnut Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, McKinney North will square off against rival Greenville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
