Baseball Game Preview: Tustin Tillers vs. Calvary Chapel Eagles

For the second straight game, Tustin will face off against Calvary Chapel. The Tillers will venture away from home to square off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

If Tustin beats Calvary Chapel with ten runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Tillers blew past the Eagles 10-4 on Tuesday. The Tillers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 4th (when they won 7-0).

Jeffery Nesmith tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Tustin is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-13-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Tustin got a big performance out of Anthony Herrera, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave Herrera a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daniel Benally, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Tustin is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-15-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Calvary Chapel, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-16-1 record this season.
