Recap: Holy Spirit Prep Cougars vs. Windsor Academy Knights
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Holy Spirit Prep Cougars can now relate to. They were dealt a 48-21 loss at the hands of Windsor Academy on Friday. Holy Spirit Prep's loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Windsor Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Merritt, who threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Merritt hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Jay Singleton, who rushed for 162 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.7 yards per carry.
Holy Spirit Prep's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Windsor Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Holy Spirit Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Windsor Academy will face off against Westminster Schools of Augusta at TBD on Saturday. Westminster Schools of Augusta is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
