Softball Recap: College Park Sets Scoring Season-High Against Acalanes

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask College Park). Everything went their way against the Acalanes Dons on Thursday as they made off with a 13-3 victory. With that win, the Falcons brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Kayla Clements spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, College Park got a massive performance out of Avery Rodriguez, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave Rodriguez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Davis, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: College Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games.

College Park's record now sits at 8-9-1. As for Acalanes, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. College Park will square off against Northgate at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Broncos have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Acalanes, they will face off against Benicia at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
