Football Recap: Kirsten Sanders Leads Citrus' Defense on Thursday

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Citrus ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They managed a 12-6 win over the Central Bears. The final result isn't all the surprising considering the Hurricanes' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Bears are ranked 228th).

Kendyl Hunnicutt was the offensive standout of the game as she threw for 106 yards and one TD, and also punched in one score on the ground.

Another reason for the win was Citrus' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Kirsten Sanders.

Citrus moved to 8-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Central, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Citrus has already played their next contest, a 38-7 win against Seffner Christian on the 7th. As for Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 12-0 victory against Crystal River on the 7th.
