Basketball Game Preview: Stratford Spartans vs. Cy-Fair Bobcats

Stratford and Cy-Fair are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Stratford Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Cy-Fair Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Thursday, Stratford didn't have too much trouble with Jersey Village as they won 72-55. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Meanwhile, Cy-Fair entered their tilt with Memorial on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 79-66 victory over the Mustangs. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while the Mustangs are ranked 650th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cy-Fair is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-13 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Stratford, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-14.

Stratford and Cy-Fair were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but Stratford came up empty-handed after a 64-63 defeat. Can Stratford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
