Basketball Recap: Marvin Ridge Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

Charlotte Catholic came into Friday's contest looking for another win against Marvin Ridge, but Henry Smith wouldn't allow it. The Marvin Ridge Mavericks came out on top against the Charlotte Catholic Cougars by a score of 64-57 on Friday thanks in part to Smith, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 27 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Rivlin, who posted six points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (two).

Despite the loss, Charlotte Catholic still got an impressive performance from Chris Eagan, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Eagan is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was King Rhodes, who scored 12 points.

Marvin Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Charlotte Catholic, they moved to 14-4 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Marvin Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 70-54 defeat against Weddington on the 24th. Charlotte Catholic has also already played their next contest, a 63-47 victory against Providence on the 24th.
