Baseball Game Preview: Germantown Mavericks vs. East Union Urchins

The Germantown Mavericks will face off against the East Union Urchins at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. East Union took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Germantown, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Germantown turned things around against Mooreville on Wednesday. They never let the Troopers get on the board and left with a 4-0 win.

Germantown's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Rhett Murphy, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Murphy a new career-high in doubles (two).

Meanwhile, East Union entered their game against Madison-Ridgeland Academy on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. East Union fell 8-3 to Madison-Ridgeland Academy.

Drew Hollimon was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ben Basil, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

The win got Germantown back to even at 7-7. As for East Union, their loss dropped their record down to 11-2.
