Basketball Recap: Pioneer Valley Comes Up Short

Pioneer Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost to the Lompoc Braves at home by a 69-52 margin. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1085th, while the Braves are ranked 478th).

Pioneer Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Lompoc, their victory bumped their record up to 20-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pioneer Valley will venture away from home to face off against Orcutt Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lompoc, they will head out on the road to take on Santa Maria at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Maria knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Lompoc likes a good challenge.
