Basketball Recap: Mira Monte Comes Up Short

Mira Monte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Shafter Generals 53-17. The contest marked the Lions' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Shafter found their leader in freshman Phillip Harrison, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for Harrison. Another player making a difference was Adin Cardenas, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

Mira Monte's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Shafter, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mira Monte and Antelope Valley will compete for holiday cheer at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Shafter, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Delano at 4:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
