Volleyball Recap: San Luis Sidewinders vs. Cibola Raiders
San Luis lost against Cibola back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Sidewinders fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 3-2. While the Sidewinders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 25-15 in the first set.
San Luis actually scored more points across those five sets (109-100), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 15-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-23, 15-13.
Cibola's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Delilah Williams, who had four digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave Williams a new career-high in assists (15). Violette Montijo also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
San Luis' defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Cibola, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-11.
San Luis didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Gila Ridge on the 16th. As for Cibola, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Kofa on the 16th.
