Baseball Game Preview: Klamath Union Pelicans vs. Mazama Vikings

For the second straight game, Klamath Union will face off against Mazama. The Pelicans will challenge the Vikings at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Klamath Union headed into their last match having not scored more than two runs for six straight, but Mazama let them put that streak behind them. The Pelicans put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 11-5 victory on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Pelicans as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Pj Safford made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one double. Klamath Union is 2-1 when Safford posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise.
