Softball Game Preview: Lowell Red Devils vs. Hebron Hawks

The Lowell Red Devils will head out to challenge the Hebron Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lowell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

If Lowell beats Hebron with 12 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Everything went the Red Devils' way against Hobart on Wednesday as they made off with a 12-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Devils.

Olivia Fuentes was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Fuentes was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Bolda, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Lonardi, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Meanwhile, Hebron didn't have quite enough to beat Griffith on Monday and fell 3-2. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hebron's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Lowell, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5.

Lowell was able to grind out a solid win over Hebron when the teams last played back in May of 2023, winning 7-4. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
