Basketball Recap: Alamogordo Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

A well-balanced attack led Alamogordo over Cathedral in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. The Alamogordo Tigers strolled past the Cathedral Fighting Irish with points to spare, taking the game 48-30. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 59th in New Mexico, while the Fighting Irish are ranked 1062nd in Texas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alamogordo has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points per game. As for Cathedral, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-13.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Alamogordo Tigers face off against the Deming Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alamogordo is facing Deming at the right time seeing as Deming is stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Cathedral, they will host Burges at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
