Basketball Recap: Waverly Comes Up Short

Waverly has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-49 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bishop Neumann Cavaliers. That's two games in a row now that the Vikings have lost by exactly two points.

Loss or not, Waverly got some senior leadership from Parker Christiansen and Annie Harms. Christiansen posted 19 points, while Harms had 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harms has scored all season.

Waverly's defeat dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Bishop Neumann, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Waverly won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Aurora at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Waverly is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season. As for Bishop Neumann, they will face off against Yutan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
