Preview: Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers vs. Carolina Academy Trojans

Blue Ridge is 10-0 against the Trojans since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Carolina Academy Trojans at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Blue Ridge has eight straight wins, the Trojans have eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Tuesday, Blue Ridge earned a 55-45 victory over the Centurions. Given Blue Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Centurions are ranked 163rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Zikira henderson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with five steals. Henderson is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anyah Henderson, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Meanwhile, Carolina Academy struggled with assists on Friday (the Panthers had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Carolina Academy had to suffer through a rough 62-30 loss at the hands of the Panthers.

Despite the loss, Carolina Academy got a solid performance out of Trinity Mangle, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Blue Ridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. As for Carolina Academy, they dropped their record down to 4-14 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Everything came up roses for Blue Ridge against the Trojans in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 70-26 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Blue Ridge since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
