Softball Game Preview: Syracuse Titans vs. Mountain Ridge Sentinels

For the second straight game, Syracuse will face off against Mountain Ridge. The Titans will take on the Sentinels at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Syracuse has given up an average of 6.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Syracuse heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Thursday. They came up short against Mountain Ridge, falling 12-2. The Titans were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the ten games prior), but the Sentinels' pitchers proved too tough.

For Mountain Ridge's part, Avery Rawlins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Rawlins a new career-high. Kelli Christiansen was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Mountain Ridge hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

Mountain Ridge's win bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Syracuse, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 15-11 record.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Syracuse hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .422. However, it's not like Mountain Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
