Volleyball Recap: Brunswick Blue Devils vs. Medina Battling Bees

After flying high against Cleveland Heights two weeks ago, Brunswick came back down to earth. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Medina Battling Bees by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Battling Bees apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Brunswick took Medina into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-12, 25-18, 22-25, 15-13.

Loss or not, Brunswick got some senior leadership from Ashlie Lieb and Alexis Must. Lieb had 28 digs and four assists, while Must had 14 digs and two aces. Those 28 digs set a new season-high mark for Lieb.

Medina can attribute much of their success to Grace Tabaka, who had 12 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Tabaka has posted since back in August.

Brunswick moved to 4-10 with that defeat, which also ended their three-match winning streak. As for Medina, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-7.

Brunswick didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Mentor on the 25th. As for Medina, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Strongsville on the 25th.
