Softball Recap: Archbishop McNicholas Rockets vs. Blanchester Wildcats
Archbishop McNicholas extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 7-9 in the process. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blanchester Wildcats. The Rockets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Natalie Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
As for Blanchester, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games.
On Blanchester's side, not much got past Reece Ledford, who gave up just three hits to keep Archbishop McNicholas off the board.
On the hitting side, Blanchester saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilly Bates, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Bates has posted since back in April.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archbishop McNicholas will venture away from home to challenge Batavia at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Blanchester, they will head out to square off against Georgetown at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
